One night, my friend and I had a teochew porridge craving because we happened to be opposite Oasis at Toapayoh. In the end, stemming from our respective austerity drives, we headed down to Ah Seah Teochew Porridge at Serangoon (31 Teck Chye Terrace). Because it was already quite late at night, we managed to park right in front of the stall.

The porridge was okay – it was cheap and warm to our bellies – and that was enough to make us happy that night. It’s not particularly mindblowingly good, but it was comfort food enough.

you order at the counter (although i must say this place is highly inefficient when it comes to taking orders – there is one person taking the orders slowly, and another scooping out food, slowly, as well, and we queue for almost 15 minutes for maybe 5 customers.

Between the two of us, we polished off every single thing. noms.

close up views coming up – some dishes were a bit salty, but what do you expect from teochew porridge dishes right… amongst all the dishes we had, the ikan bilis was the most memorable. crunchy and nice.
